Jeff Galloway Coming to
Garry Gribble's Running Sports this March


Photo of Jeff Galloway.Olympian Jeff Galloway, best-selling author and coach to over 300,000 runners, is coming to Lawrence this spring to help kick-off the inaugural marathon training program of RunWalkLawrence, the area's only official Galloway training program.

On Saturday, March 15th, Galloway will lead the public in a free three-mile run from Garry Gribble's Running Sports in downtown Lawrence (839 Massachusetts, (785) 856-0434);  the run will begin at 8:00 am and is open to all.  

Following the run, Galloway will conduct a three-hour running school covering the fundamentals and finer points of his groundbreaking, low-mileage, high-success approach to training. The school will begin at 10:00 am in the gallery space above Signs Of Life Bookstore (722 Massachusetts, (785) 830-8030).

Jeff Galloway was a track and cross-country All-American at Wesleyan University and teammate of Frank Shorter on the Florida Track Club before representing the United States at the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich.  Following the Games, Galloway developed his own approach to distance training, including the use of strategic walk breaks which enable runners to go both farther and faster than when running continuously.  His innovative methods have enabled hundreds of thousands of individuals to discover the joys and benefits of running. Galloway is the author of over 20 books, including Galloway's Book On Running, for more than 25 years the best-selling running book in North America.
