Congrats to Greg Burger on his 5th place overall at the inaugural event of the Kansas City Trail Series. His time of 51:36 at the June 24 Summer Intro 7 Mile Race was also good for 2nd in the M30-39 category. The race was held on the Blue River Parkway Trail system. Greg will be in charge of the event at Clinton Lake in the fall. more info

Minutes from the July 2 club meeting.

From Steve Riley: Mike Goodwin and Clark Coan, a couple of guys who administer trails in the area, recommend:

Apparently, when confronted by a mountain lion it is best to (1) appear bigger than real life by raising arms above head; (2) don't run--that triggers an automatic attack response; (3) look them directly in the eyes; (4) fight them off with sticks or stones.
