Meeting Minutes

Treasurer's report indicated a balance of $671.70 with no outstanding bills.

An updated membership list was circulated and it was announced that all annual memberships are due each December 31.  Gene announced that the club membership application is now available online. For those who do not want to use a credit card, applications can be still be printed out and mailed in with a check.

There was a report and brief discussion of our new beginner's group run on Wednesday mornings.  One of the regulars was present at the meeting and indicated how enjoyable and helpful the run has been for her.  There was a discussion about implementing a 6 or 8 week 5K training program culminating with participation in our Thanksgiving Day 5K.

It was suggested by Don Cackler that the club do more to advertise itself at area races by way of setting up an information table and perhaps ordering and selling club t-shirts.    It was also noted that some of the bigger races have expos which sell booth spaces to clubs and businesses.  It was suggested that perhaps we could try to get sponsorships to rent a booth at some Topeka or KC area races.

The club has produced some 4"x 5" club info cards to hand out to prospective members and to leave at sporting goods stores, work-out facilities, etc.  These were distributed to club members for dissemination.

RunLawrence members are asked to volunteer to work at the Lone Star Triathlon in July 23.  We will work on the run portion of the event as course marshals or aid station workers.  This is a fund-raising event for the club.

It was noted that many club members have carpooled to several recent races including the Mother's Day 5K, the Amy Thompson Memorial Day Run, and Hospital Hill.  In addition to many fine finishing times, we always have lots of fun on these trips so plan to join us for the next race.
