Meeting Minutes, Sunday, October 2, 2011

Lawrence Memorial Hospital 4:00 pm

President Becky McClure called the meeting to order.

Members present:  Barry Nason, John Huchingson, Gene Wee, Dee Boeck, LaRisa Lochner, Becky McClure, Karen Hyde, Celeste Leonardi, Don Cackler, Lori Cackler, and Brett Young. Cody Howard was a guest.

Approval of September meeting minutes:  Gene will put the note on the web published minutes “pending approval” so the minutes can routinely be published prior to the following monthly meeting.  The minutes of the September meeting were approved as published.

Treasurer’s Report:  John said the balance was $2915.63 as of September 29th.  Dee distributed the bank statement for perusal.

Club license plates:  The ordered plates are ready for pick-up.  

Thanksgiving Day Run updates:  
Dee passed around a volunteer sign-up sheet.  Members who were not in attendance should contact Dee to volunteer.  Volunteers will receive a shirt designed by a Woodlawn art student.  Dee has obtained four sponsors who are all medical providers.  In addition, Free State Brewery is a new sponsor.  Dee has discovered the most success in approaching potential sponsors with a specific amount and purpose.  Runners age 14 & under who enter the 5K race will receive a beanie instead of gloves.  Raul Flores will provide bib numbers with embedded chips this year; the chips do not need to be returned.  Charlie Upton will be the announcer.  Becky’s husband has a sound system available for possible use in future runs.  Police have been informed and signage obtained.   Quilt raffle tickets and merchandise will be offered for sale at both packet pick-up and day of the race.  Dee will provide specific times to report for volunteers at the November meeting.  Don will order 600 cookies from Hy-Vee.

Cody Howard, representing GaDuGi center, came to the meeting to request the clock and finish line for their upcoming event; the Boo Run to be held October 30th at 1:00 on the east levee.

Other upcoming events:  Gene gave a list of upcoming runs.  Noteworthy were the need to have an online registration link for the Run for the Orphans to be held Saturday October 22; use of the clock and finish line for the Parks and Recreation Turkey Trot and for the Run for the Orphans; as well as a need for club volunteers to set up the clock and finish line October 22nd.

Members agreed to provide items for Kreider’s Fall Into Fitness themed basket to be sold at a silent auction in conjunction with LMH’s Stepping Out Against Breast Cancer run.  

The club has been offered a free runner’s clinic by Ryan Ross.  Members present were interested in learning more details.  In addition, other clinics were discussed.

runLawrence membership form:  LaRisa suggested formatting the current form to postcard size.  Members present agreed with her proposal.

Drawing:  Celeste won the drawing.
