Meeting Minutes, Sun, June 7, 2015

The meeting, held in the LMH Conference Room, was called to order at 4:30 by President Bill Kinnersley.

Attendees: Bill Kinnersley, Elizabeth Stewart, Brenda Groskinsky, Dan Kuhlman, Janet Huchingson, Dee Boeck, Gene Wee and Becky McClure.

Gene presented the treasurer's report of as of June 7, which shows a balance of $11,094.93. Expenditures of $1059.29 included the deposit for the summer social, the cost of new business cards for the club and reimbursement for RRCA Convention expenses for Dee and Gene.

Becky moved that the March minutes be approved. The motion was seconded by Gene and they were approved as submitted.

A report on recent races and runs was given, including a good show by runLawrence members at the recent Hospital Hill events.  Dan had a great race time at the Jemez Mt. Trail Run in NM. Becky reported on the death of Glenda Taylor, formerly of Lawrence, who was struck by a truck at the state bike time trials near Walnut, KS. There was a discussion of recent incidents involving vehicles and runners and cyclists.

Thanksgiving Day Run business:  Dee is looking into sources for neck gaiters for the goodie bag. She said Gribble's will donate the gift cards for award winners. She could use volunteers to get more sponsors and to help confirm past sponsors.  Gene said he would check on barricades that had been provided in the past at no cost. The city may have changed its policies.

Dan reported that he will have the proposed schedule for the youth running program ready by the July meeting. His helpers are returning. He may change from a MWF schedule to a MTWTh schedule, alternating an easy day with a hard day. He is considering a fee of $25.

Dan also reported on Tim Byers's summer program that is in progress and suggested that the club provide some financial support. He also suggested the club website contain more info on coaches and coaching and training programs that we provide for members.

Coming meetings:  It was decided to hold the July meeting on the 12th instead of the 5th because of the holiday weekend. The summer social will be Aug. 2 and will include a brief business meeting.

The meeting was adjourned at 5:40 pm after a motion by Brenda that was seconded by Dee.
