Meeting Minutes, Sun, March 6, 2016

Present: Gene Wee, Dee Boeck, Karen Hyde,Jason Holbert, Becky McClure, Brenda Groskinsky, Ann Carlin Ozegovic, Janet Huchingson, Don Cackler, Lori Cackler

Brenda called the meeting to order.

Jason gave the treasurer's report. The club has a current balance of $19,480.32. Two checks cleared this month, one to Woodlawn School PTO for $3000 and one to RRCA for $760 for the convention fee for Gene and Dee.

The group reviewed the February club minutes. Ann moved that we accept the minutes as written, Jason seconded, and all approved.

After a brief discussion about possible changes pertaining to how the club will define a quorum for future executive decisions, it was decided to postpone further discussion until the next meeting.

Don moved that we move the next club business meeting to April 10th since three of the executive committee members will be participating in Brew to Brew on April 3rd. Jason seconded the motion, and all approved.

Karen moved that we close the business portion of the meeting; Jason seconded, and all approved.

Elizabeth Burger and Greg Burger arrived for the awards ceremony.

Elizabeth emceed the awards ceremony.  The marathon clubs from Hillcrest, Kennedy, Langston Hughes, Prairie Park, Pinkney and Woodlawn Elementary Schools were present to receive their awards and briefly talk about their programs. Representatives from Quail Run and Cordley Elementary Schools were not present.

In addition to the marathon clubs, members of the Liberty Memorial Central Middle School Smart Strength Club were present with one of their trainers to accept their award, and a representative from Douglas County CASA  accepted our award for the Shepard Shoe Fund which is named in honor of Judge Shepard and provides footwear for at-risk youth so that they can participate in sports and physical activities.

The KU Running Club did not send a representative to receive its award.

All groups received an award of $500. (The sponsor for the Pinkney Marathon Club expressed special gratitude for our gift of unrestricted funds.)

All present enjoyed the healthy snacks and cookies.  Special thanks to Elizabeth for the plate of cookies and to those who brought Girl Scout cookies.  Gene took a picture of the award recipients.
