Brenda called the meeting to order.
We reviewed the minutes from the October meeting. Dee motioned to accept the minutes as submitted; Becky seconded, and all agreed.
Jason had submitted the treasurer’s report to be read at the meeting. The current balance is $5,494.09 dollars. Payments have been made for race expenses: 1,100 pairs of socks for participants, volunteer t-shirts, race barrier rental, ribbons for awards, printing expenses and safety pins. The full report can be viewed on the runLawrence website.
Dee gave a report on the Thanksgiving Day Race preparations. Awards, t-shirts and socks have been picked up. She is in the process of following up with sponsors to collect cash and verify promised donations. We have two new sponsors, Yankee Tank Brewery and One for the Hill of It which is Ellen Young’s running group. Mallory Boone will sing the National Anthem.
Gene reported that currently there are 358 participants signed up. He asked members present to review the list of volunteer duties and verify their commitments. He noted that we still need three course marshals.
Dee said that she will ask for volunteers to help put ribbons and stickers on the awards. The time and date of the work session will be announced (11/12 or 11/13).
Elizabeth asked about which items will be recycled after the race and about what type of signs we need to post for our recycling efforts. It was agreed that this year our main focus will be on recycling the water bottles and the big cardboard boxes that we’ve recycled in past years.
Don asked about how many cookies to order. This year we’ll order 600.
A few extra volunteer duties were discussed. Elizabeth will pick up the coffee from J & S on race day morning. A few volunteers are needed to help Elizabeth set out the water at the finish line on race day morning.
Elizabeth will talk to a reporter from the LJW to see if the paper will publish a feature article on the Run before Thanksgiving Day.
Raul will put our T-day run entry in the Kansas ½ marathon and 5k participant packets next year, 2017.
Brenda will elect a committee of runLawrence members to discuss and draft letters on items related to health and wellness so runLawrence can have more of a public presence.
Please renew your runLawrence memberships for 2017.
