There was a very good attendance at our club meeting, which started off with the presentation of a birthday cake for President Dee Boeck - her
only regret was that she did not move into a new age group!
The Treasurer's report indicated a balance of approcximately $800. There was an
expenditure for our website annual fee. Income came from equipment
rental and new memberships, as well as money earned from club members
assistance at the Midwest Mayhem Triathlon.
Time was spent discussing details of the upcoming Boys and Girls Club 4
mile race.
A 6 week beginner or returning runner program leading up to
participation in our Thanksgiving Day 5K was discussed and will be
offered. There is no charge for this program, club membership is not
required, and those who attend the training runs will be given a
discount on the race entry fee.
Plans are underway for the Thanksgiving Day 5K. The depot has been
reserved as race headquarters. Members have volunteered to secure
sponsorships in the form of food, drink donations as they have in the
past. We are looking into the possibility of a fleece headband in lieu
of t-shirts which can be imprinted with our club name and logo. We also
have some of the nice running socks left from last year. We plan to
have the course certified prior to the event.
Members are urged to write up and submit their summer running
experiences to Janet Huchingson for inclusion in our newsletter, Second
Wind.
New members were welcomed into the club.
