Ed Payne announced that his fund-raising efforts towards the purchase of a Chronomix digital display clock have been quite successful and the order for the clock has been placed. This purchase will deplete the club treasury, however, we expect some income from the upcoming Dam Run. We would also like all members to please send in their renewals if they haven't yet done so. It is hoped the clock will arrive in time to use for the Dam Run on March 25. Ed also announced that the 12K certification papers have been completed and sent in.
Ed, Gene and Greg will be working with Parks and Rec regarding the placement of aid stations.
Duane Peterson was not present but sent information that he has the t-shirts ordered as well as the awards. A large mailing of entry forms was just sent out. Hy-Vee has committed to donating bananas and Great Harvest will provide assorted bread items. Gatorade will be provided and we expect to have oranges from Dillon's.
Several members present volunteered to work at the finish line, doing results, or as a course marshal. Please consider volunteering to work at this event if you have not already done so. Please contact Dee and she will give you a job assignment.
There was a brief discussion about a rental schedule for our finish line and timing equipment and there will be a small committee assigned to study this and make a policy suggestion.
We would like to encourage all of you who have not yet ordered any club clothing to consider placing an order by April 1. The shorts and singlet set is very attractive and comfortable.
Greg Burger is planning to lead a regular weekly trail run on Sunday evenings. Please contact Greg if you would be interested in trail running. The time is 5:30 pm. Meet at the Clinton Lake Corps of Engineers Office parking lot. Greg also said that he would be pleased to host another club social at his home, so watch for details coming soon.
Our Brew-to-Brew Relay team is ready to go and agreed on which legs they would each be running. We will be attempting to defend our age-graded women's title from last year!
Several club members will be participating in races in the KC and Topeka areas in the next few weeks so please contact us if you are interested in carpooling. Some are making the drive to do the Lincoln Marathon / Half Marathon on May 7, leaving on Sat, May 6 and staying at the Cornhusker Hotel near the race start & finish.
We briefly discussed the Thanksgiving Day 5K and encouraged members to be thinking of ways to again make it bigger and better. Be on the lookout for sponsorship opportunities and also if you have any ideas or suggestions about unique awards or clothing items in lieu of t-shirts, please jot them down and bring them to our next meeting.
RunLawrence has many fun activities and opportunities for involvement from runners at all levels. Please spread the word about the club to your fellow runners who are not club members and invite them to join in on the fun. I believe we have all come to realize that with a little effort from all members, this club can do great things. We have already achieved many of our club's original goals and it is exciting to set new and bigger goals at this point.
