Meeting Minutes, Oct 1, 2006

Members and visitors in attendance were treated to a delightful presentation by Coach Eladio Valdez of the KC Runner’s Edge. Eladio mixed in a generous pinch of humor while giving all those in attendance an opportunity to ask about their own specific concerns. We all left with a sense of renewed commitment to our running, but with the admonishment to set realistic goals and to keep it fun.

A brief business meeting followed with the treasurer announcing a balance of approximately $1500.00. Commitments for equipment rental for five upcoming races were announced and members volunteered to deliver and oversee use of the equipment to those events.

Progress on our Thanksgiving Day 5K was presented. Ed, Gene & Dee have measured the course for certification purposes. Long sleeve wicking shirts have been ordered from Francis Sporting Goods. Unique awards are being crafted by Sandy Craig McKenzie. Commitments for baked goods, fruit, drinks, etc. are being secured. Entry forms are distributed around town and on-line entry is available. Those in charge of the various areas are reminded to obtain adequate number of volunteers for their areas and to let Gene or Dee know of any shortages so other volunteers can be assigned to those areas. Please make any purchases you need, such as poster board for results posting, as soon as possible and turn in receipts. We should have an adequate number of drinking cups for the aid stations, etc left over from last year.

Several club members will be competing in the KC Marathon & Half Marathon this coming Saturday, and carpooling was arranged.

We were pleased to see a couple new faces at our meeting and we hope to see you all on one of our regular runs soon. Some run times may change in the next week or so due to the shorter daylight hours, so please double check via a phone call or e-mail if you are new and plan to participate in one of our regular group runs.
