Thanksgiving Day 5K Race
Progress Report
as of July 2, 2007

  1. Visitors Center reserved with Tim Laurent (Parks & Rec), June 21.  Use Permit signed and $204 paid (same amount as last year). 
  2. Requested city permit for use of public right-of-way (June 21). Fee: $10.  Requested 2 barricades for Elm St.
  3. June 21: Craig Shank, Lawrence Police, confirmed their support.  Asked if there was anything they could have done to make it better last year.  Contact Craig about a week before race to go over details.  They know the route, timeline.
  4. Raul Flores, RaceDay Timing Solutions, agreed to handle race result service.  Fee: $1.50 per runner.  Deposit of $100 and contract now due.  Signed by Dee Boeck, sent July 3.
  5. Sponsors.  Help to contact:
  6. Awards:  Ellen Young will check will with Jayhawk Trophy or Crown (Ottawa) on cost for about 86 medals (3 per category & overall top male & female).  Ed Payne to do molded turkeys to all finishers.  Need cost estimate.
  7. Shirts for runners: Long sleeve tec shirts with entries.  Checking with Jon Francis for price quote and due date ______ to guarantee shirt. (Dee)
  8. Music/DJ – Ed Payne offered his PA system from his truck for start and awards.
  9. 800 race numbers to hand out at packet pickup: Dee to contact Jon Francis
  10. Race entry forms:  (draft on-line for review): http://www.active.com/event_detail.cfm?event_id=1465705 .  Need to print more entries this year at Raul’s request to help promote race.
  11. Race course: certified last year by Ed,  but may change to avoid congestion on Oak St going both ways.
  12. Port-a-potties:  2 from Andersons last year: $143  (& restrooms at Visitor’s Center).
  13. Parking: Inform Johnnies we may direct people to park in their lot. Dee
