Lawrence Memorial Hospital
4:00 p.m
Members present: Ellen, Becky, Dee, John, Janet, Greg, Lori, Don, and Gene
Agenda items:
- Treasurer’s report; John said the balance was $8,360.
- Brew-to-Brew; the team included Dee, Celeste, Karen, Ellen and
Brenda. In spite of significant weather conditions, over 2,000 runners
participated. The runLawrence team started at 7:00 a.m. and finished
at 2:30.
- Dam Run; this run was postponed from April 4th to April 11th due to
a forecast of winter weather conditions. Gene continues to need
volunteers. Greg, Don and Lori said they would be available.
- Thanksgiving Day Run; there was discussion regarding member
preferences for the shirts. Dee has a sample Asics brand to test run.
Some sponsorship ideas were brainstormed. The notion of capping
entries was briefly discussed; however due to the nature of the race
attracting many out-of-town guests, the members felt that a cap would hurt attendance. Speeding
the pace of the award presentations was also discussed.
- Recent member activities: Greg finished 6th with a PR in the “Rock
‘n K” Kanopolis State Park 50 miler. Participants came from many
states. The course included two water crossings that were waist deep
and beautiful scenery. Greg credited his success to hard training and
to learning how, when and what to eat and drink on the trail to
maintain his energy. The winner was Tom McKenna from Lawrence who
completed the course in 8 hours and approximately 15 minutes. Greg has
registered for the Leadville run and said the Free State 100K will be
at the end of April. He posted a new master’s record time of 43
minutes for the Prairie Trail 10K.
Becky plans a biking trip to northern Italy with friends.
Janet and John enjoyed a skiing trip in the Switzerland Alps. John
will run April 11th in a race at the San Antonio Riverwalk.
Gene won the meeting shirt give-away. The meeting adjourned.
