Meeting Minutes, Oct 3, 2010

Members present: Becky McClure, Molly Wood, Barry Nason, Karen Hyde, Ellen Young, John Huchingson, Dee Boeck, Gene Wee, Lori Cackler, Don Cackler, LaRisa Chambers-Lochner, and the Hollands - Ivan, Chanette, Ivan Jr, Austin and Sierra.
- Announcements: Gene did the Sand Rats run this morning, which was dedicated to the memory of Dick Wilson. The event included a “rug rat” category for kids.
Gary Gribble's Running Sports is planning a beginner running group for women.
- Treasurer’s report: the balance is $5,092.00. Memberships are renewed on the calendar year and can be done before Jan. 1. Membership includes a 20% discount on most of the merchandise offered at Gribble’s store throughout the calendar year.
- 7th Annual Thanksgiving Day Run:
Dee has ordered more safety pins and medals to supplement those on hand. Rob Jones with Peak Performance Health Center is a new sponsor along with ten returning sponsors.
Participants will receive an Asics headband.
Volunteers will receive t-shirts designed by a Woodlawn art student. Dee shared the design with the members present.
The port-a-johns have been reserved.
The city has provided “no parking” signs for posting. The deposit charge will be refunded when the signs are returned.
There will be an ambulance standing by on race day.
Raul Flores will manage timing and results.
Charlie Upton from Baldwin will be the announcer.
Don will order cookies from Hy-Vee.
Gene provided the paper entry form for members to review. There is no extra charge to register online.
A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Woodlawn School.
Molly will coordinate race day registration.
Gene will mark the course.
Woodlawn PTO will be in charge of the fun run. Extra food volunteers would be helpful.
Don will work at the finish line.
Becky and John will man the water stop.
Packet pick-up the day before the race will be covered by Heather, Karen, John and Janet.
There is a need for a course marshal coordinator.
