Times from the Leawood Labor Day 5K in 2018 and 2019 have been removed from the Kansas state road race records because the planned certified 5K course was chanegd to an uncertified route.
Organizers should state on race info whether the course is certified and include the USATF certification number. Race directors should announce changes as early as possible. Organizers have a responsibility to let runners know things like this.
New state records must be set on certified courses and several runners were denied the opportunity to get their names in the record books because of the changes. Runners should check with race directors about any changes to the advertised race course.
